If you are anything like me you will love the cooler months where you can take your layering to the next level and have statement jackets on rotate with the key pieces in your wardrobe. This season we seen tonal options and bold colours coming through – an integration of the 90s street vibe – when worn right can have you feeling really modern.
It is important to be aware of what you feel comfortable in – what works for you and your body type and then build from there. If you care about how things are put together but are unsure how to blend new trends and fashion movements then dont worry – its normal. It is easy to get stuck in a rut with your look and the options we have these days create the opportunity to push the boat out and explore. Key lesson – dont be basic – build off the basics.
Lets chat jackets – blazers, bombers, fur, trench, denim, shackets – whats your flavour. I actually think that this component in a winter wardrobe is crucial and adds the garnish to any layering game play you are bringing to your outfit of the day. My jacket collection is seasons deep and I always focus on buying quality in this dept because it is an investment and will carry you for season after season if you buy well. An extension to this for me, is using the shirts I have as the open layer before the jacket – allowing the singlets or camis I wear during the summer – a bit more time off the bench and therefore getting more mileage out of your wardrobe. Layering is really simple and creates opportunity for different prints, textures and colours to be apart of a greater look. There are many oversized options these days which is great because you can dive into your partners side of the wardrobe and incorporate something a bit different. Tuck or tie or belt where required to give your waist the shape and accessorise with statement jewellery to bring it to the next level..
Dont waste another winter in a thermal and fleece – get all in and be creative xx
